NICOSIA FOR ART / ANNOUNCEMENTS / Announcements 2025 / Final performance of “Crazy Antonis” on Tuesday, 30 December 2025 at the Municipal Theatre of Nicosi
Wed, 03 Dec. 2025 09:00
On Tuesday, 30 December 2025, the final performance of “Crazy Antonis” by Penelope Delta will be presented as part of the Nicosia International Festival, at the Municipal Theatre of Nicosia (16:30).

With the support of Cyta as Technology Sponsor, the performance will feature screens displaying simultaneous surtitles in two languages (e.g., Greek and English), assisting both non-Greek-speaking audience members and people with hearing loss. The surtitles provide immediate translation and adaptation of the performance’s dialogue, allowing every spectator to participate fully without barriers.

This is a fresh, tender, and energetic theatre production that speaks to the hearts of both children and adults. Directed by Panayiotis Larkou, with music by composer Giorgos Hadjipieris, the performance follows the mischievous Antonis and his siblings. With humor, imagination, pranks, and deep emotions, they take us on a journey back to a time when mischief was a way to discover the world and an apology was part of love.

“Crazy Antonis”, first published in 1932, is a work inspired by Penelope Delta’s childhood and the summers she spent with her siblings in Piraeus. A literary ode to liveliness, imagination, and the memories of youth. This is a reminder that children need time, space, imagination, experiences, mistakes, and acceptance. That truth often lies in scraped knees, harmless mischief, and unconditional love. “Crazy Antonis” shows us how to be children again - or at least how to let them be.
