George G. Papageorgiou

NICOSIA FOR ART / The team / George G. Papageorgiou
George G. Papageorgiou is our Chief Executive and the Artistic Director of our festival: the Nicosia International Festival.

He is a graduate of Imperial College, University of London and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. During his 30 years of professional experience in London, Greece (Athens) and Cyprus, he provided a wide range of financial and consulting services to companies in the cultural production and entertainment sectors before returning to Cyprus to join the executive team of the Cyprus Cultural Foundation. He subsequently served as Chief Executive of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (National Theatre), Chief Executive of the Rialto Theatre (Limassol) and as an independent producer in the performing arts. In 2019 he was selected by the Nicosia Municipality to establish and have the artistic direction of the Nicosia International Festival.

In 2020 he was appointed Chief Executive of Nicosia For Art, a Nicosia Municipality company for culture which also runs the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. More recently he was appointed Artistic Director of Nicosia 2030, European Capital of Culture.
