The Philoptochos Brotherhood of the Holy Confessors (90 years of love and service, 1935–2025) is organizing a concert with the multi-award-winning performer Alexia on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (20:00. The concert, entitled “Alexia Performs the Classics”, will feature the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra and will be held under the patronage of the First Lady.

The beloved singer, who introduced vocal jazz into the Greek mainstream celebrates the 30th anniversary of the release of her internationally acclaimed, multi-platinum album, “Alexia Performs the Classics”, joining forces with the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony’s choir, together with elite musicians from Alexia’s jazz band.

The concert revives the Golden Era of Greek Cinema and Greek Jazz from the 1930’s to the 1960’s, bringing back songs with melody, harmony, and masterful orchestrations and celebrating the merge of the original Big Band sound with the symphonic tapestry.

With timeless songs such as “An s’ arnitho” by Mimis Plessas, “Ti ein’ afto pou to lene agapi” by Takis Morakis, “Echo apopse rantevou” by Giorgos Mouzakis, among others, this production promises to take us on a journey to another era, guided by Alexia’s melodic voice and the talent of the young musicians of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The Philoptochos Brotherhood of the Holy Confessors

The Philoptochos Brotherhood of the Holy Confessors was founded in 1935 and is administered by an eleven-member council of volunteer women. It provides financial support for students’ tuition, assists single-parent and large families, as well as other people in need, by offering food vouchers, paying bills, and providing other forms of aid.

It also supports the Melathro Agapis for the Elderly, a non-profit organization with the capacity to care for 39 individuals. For this purpose, 26 employees are employed. The Brotherhood’s main concern is the continuous improvement and upgrading of the services offered to the elderly, always keeping in mind their need for care, security, and above all, love.
